Stanley No. 212 small scraper plane
After many years of looking at a small handful of examples of these at auction sites and tool shows I finally found one that really called out to me....kinda grubby but...

Good bones as I like to say....solid with no chips etc and a nice 97% japanning under the crud....all correct down to the "Stanley Rule & Level" logo on the brass lever cap screw

This is the smallest Stanley scraper plane and not often found; probably because it was not often purchased when available.
I'm not going to take down any large pieces of wood with this one

but for some small jobs it will excell! As Pat says "It's sorta the #1 of scrapers." Generally assumed to be used by flyrod and insrtument makers, this has the same mechanism used in the larger 12/112 series, just scaled down to fit a 5 1/2" by 1 3/8" frame.

I've got a LN modern version but always had my heart set on a decent Stanley. These were only made from 1911-1934...for a Stanley plane, that's not a long life time...probably why there's not many around.

cleaned up it looks pretty spiffy

paid more than I wanted but less than I've seen them go for...the price of collecting...what you really want is never "cheap"

will sharpen the blade over the weekend and try it out

thanks for looking
